Tori- The Big Kahuna.

Tori Shuckhart, a resident of California PA, is the owner and creator of FloCal Fitness LLC. She resides here with her husband and best friend, Justin and their toddler daughter, Carly.

When she isn't hanging with her family, she works in clinical research helping new drugs get developed. She is also a registered Respiratory Therapist and worked in a local hospital for many years. Combining her knowledge of the pulmonary and cardiovascular system, Tori has a special skill set for guiding the breath and body during yoga.

Tori was certified to be a Power Yoga instructor at Amazing Yoga in Pittsburgh in the fall of 2018. She has worked at a few yoga studios since then and most recently taught yoga in Belle Vernon. She attended NEPA yoga festival in June of 2023 where she learned many new techniques for teaching.

Tori recently completed her Level One Sound Healer certification course through Life Changing Energy where she learned how to incorporate Crystal Singing Bowls, Tuning Forks and other mediums for sound and vibrational healing.

Curating the music to the class is one of Tori's favorite parts of teaching yoga. As a huge music lover, she enjoys letting the beat of the music dictate the intensity of the yoga poses. And a lover of the ocean, she decided to combine some of her favorite things that bring her peace and happiness in the goal that it will bring those feelings to others as well.

At FloCal, Tori teaches yoga and spin classes. Come check out one of her classes if you haven't yet. A favorite so far has been her Wednesday night Candelight Yin class.

Message from the owner:

"I have struggled with weight my entire life. Coming from an Italian family who loved to eat and then having a hard time losing weight after my first child, I want everyone to know you do NOT have to be skinny or be in the best shape of your life to enjoy yoga and it's many benefits.

Yoga. Is. For. Every. Body.

Come see why I created this studio, to feel included and happy. I can't wait to meet you!"

Caitlin- Cali Girl.

IMG_0746.jpg

Caitlin Jones — those who know her would say she’s quite colorful, isn’t afraid to laugh at herself and loves seeing others happy. Originally from southern California (the state!), then ironically moved to California, Pennsylvania with her Husband Chad Jones and their 4 year old daughter Ruby in 2020. For the past 6 years she has been a homemaker, stay at home mom and part time Cosmetologist.

Caitlin has been dancing on and off for most of her life. Attending a performing arts high school and majoring in dance in college, her main focus was in ballet. Along with ballet she has danced a number of of styles including jazz, modern, lyrical contemporary and swing. She also has danced in an all girls troupe The Denver Diamond Dolls when she and her husband were living in Colorado from 2015-2020.

During college she unfortunately experienced injuries that limited her body in pursuing dance as a full time career. She decided to turn her focus to the backstage part of dance, the joy of doing hair and makeup, becoming a licensed cosmetologist in 2003. She has always kept dance in some way as a part of her life. While she has experience in Barre, teaching it will be a new journey, one in which she is truly excited for.

At FloCal, Caitlin teaches Beach Barre a workout fused with Ballet, Yoga and Pilates. You can also catch Caitlin teaching other classes like Circuit Training, Indoor Cycling and now she is a certified yoga teacher!

You can also schedule with Caitlin to get a sensory experience at Zen Head located inside FloCal! Combining her cosmetology and yoga practices, you will leave Zen Head feeling refreshed. She is offering gua-sha facials and other therapeutic treatments, you can find more information on the Zen Head tab on our website.

A note from Caitlin:

It is never too late to start new or start again. Whether your toes stay on the floor or touch the ceiling, if you’ve danced for years or have never danced at all, no matter what size or age you are everyone deserves to dance.

Who's That Girl? It's Jess!

IMG_20240129_104231_445.jpg

Jessica lives right down the river from California, PA in Allenport with her husband Aaron and their kitty, Freddie.  While Jessica was born and raised here in Southwestern, PA, she did spend some time living in Southern Virginia near Virginia Beach as an elementary teacher. I guess that’s why she loves FloCal so much! Jessica currently works at PennWest California as an Instructional Designer helping faculty develop their online courses.

Jessica has always enjoyed dancing ever since she was little taking gymnastics and tap. She also practiced chorography and following basic dance steps as a cheerleader from a young age through high school.  She continued to use those skills in college serving as a Silk with the Penn State Marching Blueband.

Fitness has been something she has been involved in for a long time and really loves being a part of this community through group classes, including Zumba, Barre, Pilates, Strength Training, and Yoga.  Jessica has been wanting to become a fitness instructor for a while now and excited for this new opportunity!

At FloCal, Jessica teaches Zumba. Zumba is a fun, effective dance workout that is a good option for people who enjoy upbeat music and an energetic group exercise environment. It is a interval workout that moves between high- and low-intensity dance moves designed to get your heart rate up and boost cardio endurance.

A note from Jessica:

"Just be you.  There’s no one else like you!  Try new things and surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you! Do good and do well."

Alexa- Positively Powerful

unnamed.jpg

Hi! my name is, Alexa! If you cross the bridge, you will run into my hometown - Brownsville, where my daughter, Tru, and I still reside. I love coffee, r&b music, astrology and reading.

I have danced since childhood, taught dance in Brownsville at different studios, danced while pursuing my bachelors degree on the Vulcan dance team and then had the opportunity to coach the team before having my daughter. I currently coach cheerleading for Brownsville Middle School. When Tru isn't at her own dance practice or killing it on the soccer field she enjoys being my unofficial assistant cheer coach. I take pride in leading by example to show my cheer/dance girls & my own girl (Tru) we rise by lifting others up and to never put yourself down.

My life has been lead by my passion of empowering others. From my career in advocacy to coaching middle school cheer, and every step in between - I am committed to helping others see their "super power"

Like a lotus flower, my passion blossomed through my own struggles and helping others overcome hardships. In 2013, I entered recovery from an eating disorder. A year or so later I created an eating disorder and recovery support group at CalU. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in communications and public relations, I took my first job in advocacy at Crime Victims Center, where I first hand accompanied and empowered survivors of sexual assault and other violent crimes. I moved on to Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern PA where I was highly involved in prevention work, educating children on social emotional learning so they would be less likely to be involved in domestic violence as they grew. After receiving my masters in corporate and organizational communications in 2019 from West Virginia university, I landed my current job at a utility company as their outreach and education coordinator to make sure customers are applying for the assistance they need.

Through this journey I have been faced with struggles that seemed to be never ending and watched people completely rebuild their lives... In recovery, every new job, accomplishment or person's story I have heard, one message has been consistent - no matter what muck we have endured, tomorrow allows a new opportunity to blossom into more of ourself. During each class I teach, my goal is for everyone to leave feeling more like themselves.

I became a certified yoga instructor in 2024, I am incredibly grateful to find a studio home at FloCal and can't wait to practice yoga with you all! At FloCal, Alexa teaches yoga and hip hop class!
